WASPS
Wasps and Wasp Nest
REMOVALS START FROM JUST
£60 with a 7-day guarantee.
We can also remove the actual nest from £20 - £30

The wasp season begins with queen wasps emerging from winter hibernation in springtime when they start to build their new nests.
If you see wasps entering and leaving a hole in the ground, a wall, roof or any other part of a building you probably have a wasp nest. You may be getting ‘unexplained’ wasps inside a room which may indicate a nest nearby.
Do not be tempted to block the hole up as this will make them angry and aggressive but it will not kill the nest, they will find another entrance and may even come inside the house. Some species of wasps will build outside in bushes and trees.

Wasps are aggressive and will sting readily if they think the nest is in danger. Every year there are approximately four deaths from wasp stings. A wasp can sting repeatedly and when they feel threatened they release a pheromone that brings other wasps to help them. A wasp sting is very painful and even people not allergic to wasp stings, after being stung by a dozen of them repeatedly, can experience serious health issues.
ANTS
Ants are small insects that live in huge, organised groups numbering many hundreds - and sometimes even thousands.
They live in complex, tunneled nests, which they construct underground.
There are over 30 different species of ant in the UK, including the familiar black garden ants, red ants (which can sting), and the smaller yellow meadow ants, which are rarely seen unless you disturb their nest.

How to recognise ant damage

Rather than damaging plants by feeding, ants can disturb plants as they dig their underground nests.
Here are some typical ways that ants can cause damage in your garden:
-
Disturbing plant roots as they dig their nests, causing dehydration.
-
Soil deposited as ants tunnel underground can cover up delicate plants, causing damage in pots and rockeries.
-
Anthills can form in the middle of lawns, which look unsightly and make mowing more difficult.
-
Ants can be responsible for increased numbers of aphids in your garden. Yellow meadow ants, for instance, farm aphids at the roots of plants, protecting the pests from predators in order to farm their sweet honeydew.

Services
Wasps
Wasps are a buzzing, winged insect with a black and yellow striped body with a nasty sting. A single wasp nest can produce around 30,000 wasps per year. Nests can often be found in lofts, eaves, porch canopies and trees and removal of a nest should only be undertaken by a professional. Wasp stings can be very painful and sometimes lethal. Some people have a violent anaphylactic reaction which restricts the airway and in rare cases can cause death. Our technicians will wear suitable PPE and dust the nest which allow the workers to take the powder back to kill the Queen which will make the nest redundant and as further worker wasps come in contact with the powder they will also die.
Rodents
Typical rodents that people think of for pest control purposes include rats and mice. These can cause much distress to those who have a rodent infestation. Rats can reproduce at phenomenal rats, with a female producing around 90 offspring each year. Rodent infestation can cause major structural damage as rodents are able to gnaw through materials such as woodwork and packaging as well as electrical wiring which can cause fires, or pipe work which can cause flooding. Rodents can also spread disease such as Lymes Disease carried by rats and spread through urine. Our technicians will undertake a full survey to understand where the entry/exit points are likely to be, place the necessary amount of bait boxes down and proof up any areas to prevent re-entry in the future. This will likely include for metal meshing and cement to all holes. All our work comes with a guarantee, so should you have a return of the problem within the guarantee period, we will retreat the problem at no additional charge.
Squirrels
There are two types of squirrels in the UK, the native red squirrel
which is a protected species; and the more common grey squirrel. Grey squirrels are very intelligent and adapt easily to their environment and food source. Squirrels can cause major structural damage to your property, particularly to lofts and roof voids, where they are known to chew and gnaw through electrical wires and TV cables. Squirrels can also cause a noise nuisance. Trapping is the most effective form of removing squirrels. This is usually by either a tunnel traps or Fenn traps. Both can be used internally and externally, although any external use of traps will be carefully monitored and are secured in boxes to allow safe trapping for the animal and to prevent any harm to non-target species. Our technicians will undertake a full survey before providing advice and placing any traps.
Bedbugs
Bedbugs used to be associated with unhygienic conditions but this is no longer the case. They are becoming more common due to people travelling and unknowingly spreading the bugs from around the country and bed to bed. Bedbugs live on human blood and will bite in order to feed and survive and will cause severe rashes on the human body. Bedbugs can be difficult to treat due to them being able to hibernate up to 6 months on one feed of blood and we offer a number of solutions to rid you of this pest. These are either spraying or fogging, where the customer will need to vacate the property for a number of hours due to the chemicals used. Sometimes, it may require a number of treatments to remove the infestation fully, however this treatment allows treatment deep into cracks and crevasses. We also offer a heat treatment, which is more expensive but does prevent the customer from having to leave the property during and after treatment. Heat treatment will destroy the eggs which will naturally break the cycle of reproduction. Before any treatment, our technicians will come and undertake a survey and advice accordingly.
Cockroaches
Cockroaches are usually found in commercial premises where food is commonly being handled. However, they are not uncommon in residential properties (particularly apartments which have service ducts, plumbing and pipes). Cockroaches usually prefer a warm, humid environment, however, different species prefer a cooler environment. Cockroaches aregenerally nocturnal and tend to hide in areas such as drains and sinks, and behind cupboards and fridges. Cockroaches can carry diseases and cause issues such as food poisoning, thyphoid and poliomyelitis as well as cause allergic reactions and are generally a public health risk. Our technicians are able to undertake a full survey and advise accordingly. Sometimes, given the nocturnal nature of this pest, a night survey will be required which we can accommodate. There are a number of ways to treat cockroaches, which include spraying, fogging and gel. Spraying treatments may require several visits, whereas fogging is more instant although both get deep into cracks and crevasses. Gel treatment is a more topical and toxic treatment, and means that the customer doesn't have to vacate the premises.
Moths
The most common moth pest we encounter is the common clothes moth and the case bearing clothes moth. The clearest indication that you have a moth infestation is usually damage to clothes, carpets, or other textiles. Moths are usually active at night, and generally between May to October. Treatments include spraying, heat treatment and/or aerosol fogs for loft spaces where the moths could originate from old bird nests which should be removed. Our technicians will be able to advise accordingly as to the best treatment method.
Fleas
Adult fleas live as parasites on warm blooded mammals such as humans, cats, dogs and birds. They feed on skin and feathers and their bite can cause intense itching around a bright red spot. They are a jumping insect and can jump around 1 foot. Our technicians will undertake a full survey and advise accordingly. Treatments include spraying and dusting which can treat both carpets and wooden floors. Our technicians are unable to treat pets for fleas and this should be undertaken by a qualified vet.
